'Fridays are not what they were' in Manchester and it's changing life in the city centre

And with severe staff shortages in many industries, some bosses say they have to offer flexible working to attract and keep workers.
But as employees adopt the new routine, it's changing the way we socialise and having a major impact on businesses in Manchester city centre. "Thursday is like the new Friday," says Alan Hudd, licensee of the Briton's Protection, one of the city centre's oldest pubs. "You used to be able to guarantee Fridays and Saturdays would be busy and that would cover you for the rest of the week.
