More than 50 firefighters were sent to battle the blaze on Mossdown Road in Royton yesterday evening (Thursday). The fire started at a waste handling facility then spread to a neighbouring commercial building.

Huge plumes of smoke could be seen for miles around from the fire and people were urged to stay away from the area. Crews have remained at the scene through the night and are continuing the tackle the fire today.
