Fired accountant to pay £15,000 after using work phone for sex chat lines

A top accountant has been fined after he used his work phone to ring premium rate sex chatlines during his lunch breaks. Usman Khalid racked up more than £1,300 in telephone bills in just 11 days while working for KPMG, a disciplinary panel heard.

The assistant manager used his company phone to ring the X rated lines almost 90 times while working from home. Some calls lasted well over an hour with the longest recorded at 85 minutes long.

But after receiving the bill, the firm launched an investigation and following an examination of of 262 private calls made from his work phone, he was sacked.

Now Mr Khalid has received a severe reprimand from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) which ruled that he must now
