The energy price cap is set to increase by 10 per cent on October 1 putting more pressure on household budget as we enter the colder months.

Ofgem confirmed last month that millions of households on the standard tariff will see energy bills rise by £149 from £1,568 to £1,717.

There are no dedicated cost of living payments to help people this winter, however, the Scottish Government is due to receive around £79 million from Westminster as part of the extended Household Support Fund, to use as its discretion across local councils.
