Tea is an important part of the English culture, which is why it comes as no surprise that the debate of whether milk or water goes in first has been raging since the dawn of time.
But it turns out there is actually a correct way to make a cup of tea and most of us have been doing it wrong. Dr Andrew Stapley, a chemical engineer at Loughborough University, has been crunching the numbers and determined that putting milk in first is the scientifically right way to make a cuppa.
If that wasn't enough, it turns out the tea should be poured into the milk. Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter According to Dr Stapley's research, pouring milk into a hot cup of tea makes the milk heat up unevenly, making the proteins 'denature'.
