BRITAIN'S Got Talent fans were left open mouthed after a man nearly drowned doing a terrifying act. Saturday night's instalment of the ITV show saw escapologist Andrew Basso, 36, perform the water torture cell.

Andrew explained to the judges that Harry Houdini had described the act, which represented the "peak of his creation" as the "most dangerous and difficult".

He had to escape a box full of water and unpick a lock while handcuffed upside down. The escapologist told them: "I will escape in two minutes. "Any longer, and I may not come out alive.
