Ex-Hearts star aims to pile misery on Clyde and boost Hamilton Accies with cup win

Dario Zanatta won the Challenge Cup with Raith Rovers and would love nothing better than to do the same with Hamilton Accies this season.And the Canadian midfielder admits he’s relishing the chance to score past pal Neil Parry when they host League One strugglers Clyde in the quarter-finals this evening.Zanatta climbed off the bench as Rovers beat Queen of the South 3-1 at Airdrie to lift silverware last term.The 25-year-old admits the SPFL Trust Trophy is Accies’ best chance of trophy success this season, and hopes they can go all the way.And he hopes a successful run in the competition can get fans back onside.He said: “I was lucky enough to play in the final last year, and it was a nice day for the club and all the players.“I think at the moment this is the most realistic cup that we’re going to have a chance in, so it’s one to look forward to.“Winning games in the cup or the league can bring confidence back to the boys, that’s what we need at the moment, so it’s a good distraction from the league.“The fans have made their opinions vocal recently and we’d like to get them onside.“A positive result can hopefully do that.”Zanatta, who started his senior career with Hearts, before loan spells at Queen’s Park, Raith and Alloa, then spent time at Partick Thistle and Ayr United before returning to Raith Rovers.That has given him some experience of playing against Clyde, but the Canadian youth international admits he’s just relishing the prospect of different opposition.But it also keeps Accies away from league rivals, as Queen’s Park and Raith Rovers; Dundee and Dunfermline and Queen of the South and Kelty Hearts tussle it out elsewhere – the latter tie providing semi-final opponents to either Hamilton or Clyde.He said:
