More than 100 cyclists took to the streets of Scotland’s capital in a protest to make cycle paths safer in the dark. The ‘Light up the Night’ event in Edinburgh involved people decorating themselves and their bikes in lights and bright colours to help spread the message, reports Edinburgh Live.
Organised by Kirsty Lewin of Spokes Porty, it was created to highlight women’s safety when cycling alone on dark unlit paths during the winter.Campaigning for more lighting on these routes or safer cycle paths on main roads, the group asked for all supporters to meet them in the Meadows on Friday evening.They cycled a route around the city centre which lasted about an hour.Ringing their bells and playing music as they went, the cyclists at one
