Driver filmed speeding down wrong side of Scots motorway in heart-stopping footage

A driver has been filmed speeding down the wrong side of a Scots motorway in heart-stopping footage captured by another motorist.

The incident took place on the M90, near South Queensferry, around 8pm on Tuesday evening. Police were alerted but could not find any trace of the vehicle, believed to be a Kia Picanto or similar model, when they attended.

Footage of the motorist shows the small blue car, on the northbound carriageway, driving in the opposite direction as other traffic on the road.It is not clear how the vehicle managed to get on the wrong side of the road but the car continues to travel down the hard shoulder as other bewildered motorists drive past.A clip of the incident was captured by another driver's Tesla car and shows the driver in the distance swerving out of a lane to avoid another vehicle as they manoeuvre into the hard shoulder.The driver is understood to be an elderly female.The footage was posted on social media after the incident and many have now called for the driver's licence to be revoked.One person wrote: "Hopefully she's okay.
