Rangers have confirmed the total number of votes on the eight resolutions put to shareholders at Tuesday’s AGM as Douglas Park smashed Dave King's bid to oust him as chairman.

Seven of those needed only a majority to vote in favour in order to be passed. This included Park's election as chairman. Fan group Club 1872 confirmed they planned to back rival King, who had sought to return to the Ibrox board having been critical of the current regime.

But Park sailed through the vote, receiving over 73 per cent of votes to stay on as chairman, with 283,968,271 in favour. The group also refused to back resolutions seven and eight, which regarded the allotment of new shares to favoured investors, which in theory makes it harder for a takeover to happen.

American businesswoman Kyle Fox has expressed her interest in acquiring a large stake in the Ibrox outfit over recent months after a legal wrangle from which Rangers withdrew.
