Doctor Who fans open-mouthed as BBC announces Jodie Whittaker’s replacement – but all isn’t as it seems

ACTRESS Jodie Whittaker took the role of the famous time and space traveller in 2017. But in a post shared on Twitter, CBeebies announced another famous face would be given the role in the show.

Or would they? For the past four years, Black Mirror star Jodie has been known as the thirteenth incarnation of the Doctor in the long-running science fiction drama.

She took on the role from actor Peter Capaldi in the 2017 Christmas episode of Doctor Who, titled Twice Upon a Time. As she prepares to say goodbye to the role in 2022, no actor had yet been officially announced as her replacement - until today.
