Dawid Dybich, 26, was driving van along the A500 in Cheshire at just before 6.30pm on February 12 when he suffered a hyperglycaemic attack, causing him to veer onto the wrong side of the road and crash into an oncoming white Fiat Punto.

The driver the Punto, a 54-year-old woman from Crewe, suffered life-changing injuries in the collision, including a fractured pelvis, spine and legs.

She underwent a number of operations and is still recovering, while Dybich was uninjured. Police discovered that he was diabetic and "insulin dependent" but
