The public inquiry into the atrocity heard on Tuesday from Debbie Ford, then an Assistant Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police who was the force's highest ranking officer involved in the response as its 'gold' commander.

The 0800 'casualty bureau' number was set up for the public to provide details of missing people and so police could give out key information, the inquiry heard.
