David Koch donates blood for the first time in 30 years

Kochie is one of 700,000 Australians who, until recently, couldn’t donate blood due to the restrictions placed on former UK residents.

Previously anyone who lived in the UK between 1980 and 1996 couldn’t donate blood due to the risk of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy - colloquially called mad cow disease - which was ravaging the country at the time.
