park. Police have launched a probe after the wire snares were set up at Wallyford Park in Wallyford, East Lothian. The traps can cause severe injury to animals who get caught in them and only people registered with police can use them.
Fears have been raised that dogs and other pets can become injured, and if keepers don't return quickly enough animals can suffer lingering deaths.A statement from East Lothian police read: "(Police) would like to take this opportunity to remind members of the public that all snares must carry a unique identification tag, which is obtained by accredited snare operators registering with Police Scotland.
