NEW Dame Sheila Hancock was left so thin by an arthritis flare-up that it got her out of wearing a corset costume. The actress, 87, has battled rheumatoid arthritis for three years and has trouble walking.

The condition flared up when she played a 16th-century witch in TV hit A Discovery Of Witches. Dame Sheila, widow of Morse star John Thaw, said: “I had been ill before filming. "So I was very cheeky and asked if they could lace me in very tightly instead so that I could get away with no corset. “I was so thin because I was going through flare-ups of the rheumatoid arthritis.
