SANTA ANA, Calif.- Orange County Superior Judge Nathan Scott rejected a request from the cities of Huntington Beach and Dana Point Friday afternoon, whose officials had been seeking a temporary restraining order to keep beaches open, handing a victory to Governor Gavin Newsom.
Newsom had ordered the closure of all state and local beaches in Orange County on what had he termed a temporary basis Thursday during his daily noon COVID-19 press conference.
The governor’s decision was driven by the oversize crowds that had flooded OC Beaches over the past weekend, particularly in Newport Beach, violating social distancing rules that people stay six feet away from others. “Specific issues on some of those beaches have raised alarm bells,” Newsom
