Council employees are turning their hands to vital new community roles in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.Hundreds of council volunteers have been working for weeks to provide vital services across South Lanarkshire to those classed as vulnerable or at risk.Operating from hubs in local secondary schools, a seven day-a-week rota is in place to ensure foods, medicines, and often PPE, are delivered.Among them are housing and technical resources staff, Gary Nelson and Neil Falconer.For each, the ‘normal’ day job of designing new primary schools and nurseries has been curtailed with work on sites effectively shut down.As a result, Gary, a chartered quantity surveyor, and Neil, architectural team lead, found themselves able to take on new
