A council carer died in a horror road crash after she had stopped to help an injured animal.Mary Logan, 62, crashed her van into a car as she tried to turn on the A73 in Thankerton, Lanarkshire.Mary, who worked for South Lanarkshire Council, had been travelling with a colleague when tragedy struck.They had been visiting clients when they spotted an injured animal by the road in January last year.But after they moved on after failing to find the creature, they were involved in a fatal collision.Mary was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with severe injuries but passed away two days later.
