Love Island has taken a swipe at its rival dating shows in the new trailer for the upcoming eighth season. The popular ITV2 show will return to our screens on June 6, and will entertain the nation for a whopping ten weeks.

Fans were treated to a teaser trailer earlier this month, and now the full thing has been released. Narrated by Love Island veteran Iain Sterling, the advert made several jibes at rival shows like First Dates, Ex On The Beach and Celebs Go Dating.

He says: “That’s right, the OGs of love are here letting you know that this summer, love is ours. So, to all you pretenders – stand down French maître d – pause your greatest love song playlist and you, yes you Mrs Love, you better start thinking about a new surname because this is our patch.” Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter.

Iain continued to quip: “We might sound like we’re chatting a load of old bumble, but we know you’ll be swiping our way.” The trailer also poked fun at last year’s winner Millie Court as a cartoon of her played the Love Island tune on a keyboard – giving the nod to Millie’s hilarious performance last summer.
