Coronation Street fans fume as characters turn on Peter Barlow after Stephen Reid murder twist
ok.co.ukCoronation Street viewers have been left fuming as Weatherfield residents turned on fan-favourite Peter Barlow. On Friday night, millions of viewers were shocked when Peter mowed down serial killer Stephen Reid on the cobbles in front of Stephen’s horrified family and Peter’s wife Carla.
On Monday, 16 October, Peter, played by Chris Gascoyne, found himself arrested on suspicion of murder and hauled in for questioning by DS Swain and her team.
But viewers were outraged as some of Weatherfield's residents appeared to turn on Peter, appearing to blame him for Stephen's crimes.Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer said: "This policewoman lady was so determined to take down Stephen and now she’s arresting Peter!?" "#coronationstreet Sally the Grass," wrote another.
A third person penned: "Why is this police woman so in love with Stephen?" Another person wrote: "When Sally, Elaine and Gail are blaming Peter because of the crimes Stephen committed…" One person fumed: "Sally turning on Peter is such a lazy way to create drama." "Are Sally and Gail seriously going to try and blame Peter for all of Stephen’s crimes?" another questioned.
