Community remembers tragic Scots schoolboy who died in building site accident one year on

Glasgow. Banners and decorations lined the street where the youngster lived to mark the first anniversary of the accident, describing him as “Glenkirk’s leader” and saying he would be “forever 10”.A crowd also gathered at Southdeen Park to let off blue, red and white balloons yesterday afternoon and some bearing the schoolboy’s initials.

One Facebook tribute ahead of the memorial said: “Miss you wee guy. Love the street.” We told at the time of the tragedy how Shea was playing with friends when he fell into a deep trench on a site near his home, where extensive drainage works are being carried out.His helpless mum had watched the rescue operation in “hysterics” after crews were called to the spot near Glenkirk Drive just before 10pm.
