Thousands of people braved sub-zero temperatures and got into the Christmas spirit at the first ever Irvine Yuletide event.Sunday’s seasonal event was organised by North Ayrshire Council, the Marymass Committee and Irvine Youth Forum.And people from throughout the community flocked to Bridgegate to enjoy some festive fun.Irvine Locality Policing team took part in some community engagement.
There was also a mobile youth centre with the Library Service offering Bookbug sessions and also arts and crafts.There were queues at the ever-popular Santa’s Grotto featuring 1,000 selection boxes.The market had 16 general vendors and four food vendors which proved hugely popular.Eye-catching sights included an inflatable gingerbread man and a walking Christmas tree.Free face-painting and balloon modelling proved a big hit along with free hot chocolate, poured at the Trinity Centre.There was a free screening of Elf in the Trinity Centre.
