Carole Baskin
Carole Baskin (born June 6, 1961) is an American animal rights activist and owner of Big Cat Rescue, a non-profit animal sanctuary based near Tampa, Florida. Baskin drew public attention when she was featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness about Oklahoma-based private zoo operator known as Joe Exotic. The Netflix series follows both Baskin and Joe Exotic, filming their ongoing and escalating feuds over exotic animals in private zoos. Following the series' release, Baskin has been targeted by Internet memes related to the disappearance of Don Lewis, her second husband.

nme.comNetflix regarding “unauthorised” use of footage in Tiger King 2.Last month, the CEO of Big Cat Rescue filed a lawsuit against Netflix and producers Royal Goode Productions in an attempt to halt the November 17 launch of the sequel series.Within hours, a federal judge denied their request for a temporary restraining order, saying the footage did not “cause any immediate harm that cannot be compensated with monetary damages”.
It was unclear, however, if the Baskins would seek a preliminary injunction on the matter.As reported by Deadline, the Baskins have since given “notice of their voluntary dismissal of this action” in federal court on Wednesday (December 15).
