A Southport businessman has asked the local community to help him raise £1m for charity after a tragic stabbing claimed the lives of three schoolgirls.

Southport Pleasureland owner Norman Wallis has teamed up with Royal British Legion in Southport to host a spectacular fundraising event in the wake of the death of the youngsters.

On July 29, Alice da Silva Aguia, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, were killed by a knifeman who raided a local community centre in the Merseyside town.

At the time, the trio were taking part in a Taylor Swift-themed dance class with other children. The days following the tragic incident saw nationwide unrest across the country including fights, looting and police attacked in places such as Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Lancashire.
