Emergency serviced raced to the scene of a blaze in Edinburgh after a bus caught fire. Crews were called to reports of the fire on Gorgie Road, near Tynecastle Park, just before 11am on Sunday March 13.
It came after a First Bus went up in flames leaving terrified passengers fled for safety. Motorists stuck in traffic at the scene reported 'flames coming out of the engine', with a picture showing smoke billowing out of the vehicle.
Some drivers got out of their own cars fearing the blaze would get worse. Tollcross Fire Station sent two appliances to the scene, Edinburgh Live reports.The cause of the fire was not disclosed by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) but officers confirmed that nobody had been injured.The road remains closed while the area is made secure.
An SFRS spokesperson said: "We received a call at 10:51am regarding a bus on fire on Gorgie Road near to the Tynecastle football stadium. "Two appliances were dispatched from Tollcross Fire Station and the fire was extinguished."Crews remain on site to make sure the area is safe."First Bus have been contacted for comment..
