Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour touted as future Man City signing

New Brighton and Hove Albion signing Billy Gilmour has been to become a future Manchester City midfielder. Former Seagulls boss Graham Potter brought the Scottish youngster to the Amex Stadium, from Chelsea, at the end of the summer transfer window for a fee of £9m.

The Englishman may well be regretting this decision though having been appointed manager of the Stamford Bridge club on Thursday.

Gilmour spent last season on loan at Norwich City, however the 21-year-old was far from a success at Carrow Road, as he managed just one assist in 24 Premier League appearances.

Despite this, both Brighton and ex-Chelsea man Pat Nevin see a bright future ahead for the midfielder. "Billy Gilmour is at a crucial point in his career, and the move to Brighton is brilliant," he explained. "It's the right move.
