An 11-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after a crash on a busy main road in Gorton today. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, scrambled to the scene of the incident on Hyde Road at around 1.30pm.

Police were called to reports of the collision - where a young boy, aged 11, was found to have been hit by a car. He was rushed to hospital by paramedics and remains there with serious injuries.

The incident, outside Debdale Park, resulted in the road being cordoned off by officers between Reddish Bridge and Laburnum Road.

Bus services were diverted, as well as traffic, which began to cause congestion on nearby side streets.
