Stockport’s bins chief has admitted she ‘can’t see an end’ to the long running disruption to green bin collections, with rounds now being hit by the national shortage of HGV drivers.

Problems with collecting garden and food waste have dogged the borough since the start of the pandemic, with contractor TLC putting the issue down to the number of staff shielding or self-isolating.

The fortnightly collections were suspended for two months in spring last year, but have remained hit and miss since being reinstated.
