Dame Barbara Windsor's widower Scott Mitchell has opened up on how he is learning to love again with "wonderful" EastEnders star Tanya Franks - admitting it "can't be easy" to step into the late TV legend's shoes.
Barbara died in December 2020, aged 83, after a battle with Alzheimer's disease, leaving a devastated Scott, 60, mourning the loss of his wife of 20 years.
He had been supported throughout Barbara's illness by her EastEnders castmates, who he ran the 2019 London Marathon with to raise money for dementia charities, and his friendship with Tanya, who starred as Rainie Cross in the BBC soap until June 2022, eventually turned into something more, just under three years after his beloved Barbara's death.
Scott said: "I got into a new relationship last year. I’m very happy, she’s a wonderful lady who knew Barbara and is very understanding. "It can’t be easy to be with someone who was the other half of Barbara Windsor, especially the fact that I still put myself out there and talk about her.
