Ava DuVernay‘s company is backing out of a big deal. The 49-year-old When They See Us filmmaker’s company, Array, has exited a deal with Spotify, and will no longer be making podcasts for the company which has come under fire in recent weeks for their association with Joe Rogan‘s podcast, via the New York Times. The deal, which was set last year between Array and Spotify, was set to provide an exclusive multiyear plan to produce scripted and unscripted podcasts with Gimlet, the studio owned by Spotify.
No podcasts or shows had yet been released under the deal, although “multiple projects were in development,” via the spokesperson.
