ASDA announces nationwide ban coming into place in every single supermarket

In a bid to cut down on plastic waste, the supermarket has decided to ditch the free plastic fruit and vegetable bags in its stores - meaning customers will either have to pay 30p for one or bring their own.

It said more than 100m pieces of plastic would be removed from shelves this year. Instead of a free, single-use plastic bag, the supermarket will provide a reusable 30p option made from recycled plastic bottles.
