Armed police surround home in Fife as residents told to lock doors

Residents of a street in Dunfermline have been told to lock their doors while armed police attend to an incident at a nearby home.Officers clad in black body armour and carrying weapons arrived in Izatt Avenue in the newly-anointed Fife city earlier on Tuesday afternoon.Multiple police vehicles were parked on the street and a cordon imposed at the western edge of the street, beside a local newsagent.The Record understands that the incident relates to "concern for a person".

However, police are yet to comment on the exact nature of the incident, and why armed officers have been called out. An image shared on Facebook group Fife Jammer Locations shows several armoured officers in helmets standing at the front door of a property in the street.

Meanwhile, a resident told the Dunfermline Press that they were asked by cops to lock the doors and stay inside. Bus services were affected by the incident.

Stagecoach East Scotland said shortly after 4pm on Twitter: "Due to the police closing the road, service 87 is unable to service Izatt Avenue and Johnston crescent until further notice."Police Scotland was contacted for comment.
