ANTIQUES Roadshow fans were all left poking fun at Newcastle United after a guest appeared on the show with some of the club’s prized memorabilia.
On the most recent episode of the beloved BBC programme, expert Raj Bisram certainly had an eye for goal after spotting the Newcastle collectables.
In front of him laid one of the Magpies’ traditional black and white striped kits from 1953, as well as three coveted FA Cup medals from the same era. “What a fabulous collection of football memorabilia,” gushed Raj, while feasting his eyes upon the incredibly rare items.
The guest, beaming with pride, then revealed: “This was my grandad’s collection, Bobby Cowell, he played for Newcastle between 1943 to 1955.” Bobby was forced to retire in 1995 at the age of 33 when he picked up a serious knee injury during a pre-season tour of Germany.
