Alan Carr’s ex husband Paul Drayton has spoken out for the first time since leaving prison. Paul, 50, was freed from prison just two days after being sentenced to 14 weeks behind bars after he pleaded guilty to drink driving.

He was arrested for driving while being four times over the legal drinking limit and reversing into a police car. It was through the work of his barrister, John Dye, that his sentencing was overturned.

He has since received a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 24 months. A suspended sentence means Paul will serve his sentence outside prison, but must meet certain conditions set by a judge.

He could be recalled to prison if he breaks the conditions. Opening up for the first time since leaving prison, Paul took to Instagram to discuss how grateful he is and revealed he is returning to rehab. “Thank you for all the love, and kindness you have shown me over the last few weeks,” he wrote. “As you can imagine, this has been an exceptionally challenging time, but I am so grateful for the support and care I’ve received. “I take full accountability for my actions, but I am so thankful for the opportunity to truly get better and to start my new chapter with strength and determination.” Paul went on: “I am now going back to my rehabilitation centre to keep my journey and progress moving forward and will be stepping away from social media during this time. “Thank you all again. The next chapter is going to be the brightest.
