A 20mph speed limit is set to be introduced in the Stewartry’s biggest towns.Members of the communities committee will be asked on Tuesday to back a bid to introduce the lower limit in towns across Dumfries and Galloway.If approved, it will mean slower vehicles in Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie and Kirkcudbright by August, 2023.There are also plans to implement new 20mph speed limits around a number of Stewartry primary schools over the next 12 months.A report for members reveals the local authority is “regularly contacted by residents, community councils and members to introduce speed restrictions in our towns and settlements, particularly in built-up areas”.It is therefore proposed to introduce a temporary traffic regulation order in some of
