The X Factor, The Voice and Pop Idol all pulled in huge audiences, with the public watching the shows in their droves. It seems there's nothing we love more than seeing a star being born, or someone failing to hit the high notes.

Little Mix and One Direction are just some of the incredibly successful groups that have come from the shows, but others weren't so lucky - reports Kent Live.

Despite a successful start, several former contestants faded into the background, with many of them returning to their day jobs.
