Women's charity holds housewarming to celebrate new home

A women’s charity has celebrated moving into its new home with a special housewarming event.Kairos was an Active Communities project that started in 2017 thanks to three years of funding from the Robertson Trust.Last August it became an independent charity and last month it moved into its own dedicated space at the Embroidery Mill in Paisley.With a team of 30 volunteers and six members of staff, the future is looking bright according to senior coordinator Katy Wilson-Scott.Don't miss the latest headlines from around Renfrewshire.

It’s lovely to have everything back in person now after so long, especially now we’ve got our own space.“We’ve got double the amount of space we had before and have lots of projects and ideas.“This space was previously occupied by Renfrewshire Carers Centre so it already had secure entry which is quite important for us.“It’s about making it feel safe and a home for everybody.”The group held a housewarming event to celebrate the next phase in its story and welcomed partners including Active Communities, The Robertson Trust, Engage Renfrewshire, Women and Children First and Home Start Renfrewshire.With its expanded space, Kairos is starting a world food cookery project to make use of its large kitchen.

It also plans to continue its support groups, wellness sessions and recovery from addictions meetings.It also plans to continue its popular podcast and magazine.Katy added: “We’re starting an incubator to help people with their ideas.
