Woman rescued from Stalybridge canal 'jumped in as police arrived'

Emergency services rushed to Stalybridge town centre on Monday night (April 26) to rescue a woman from the Huddersfield Narrow Canal at Armentieres Square, near Trinity Street.

Greater Manchester Police has now confirmed that the woman, aged 30, had jumped into the canal as officers arrived to deal with a disturbance at a nearby property.
