Woman, 35, charged with assault in connection with Tameside 'stabbing'

A 35-year-old woman has been charged over an alleged assault against a man in Tameside. Lorraine Brogan has been charged with section 18 assault, also known as grievous bodily harm (GBH).

It follows an incident on Birch Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, yesterday morning (January 27). READ MORE: House wrecked after boy smashed stolen £50k Mercedes through its front wall Emergency services were called out to the scene at around 5am following reports of a stabbing.

A man in his 40s was treated for facial injuries, Greater Manchester Police said. Brogan, of Birch Street, Ashton, was remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court today.

Police spent several hours on Birch Street, in the Guide Bridge area, throughout Thursday morning. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the road taped off close to the Shell petrol station on Stockport Road, before a smaller cordon was in place at the junction with Pelham Street.
