Widespread flash flooding causes travel chaos as Greater Manchester is deluged with torrential rain

About 10mm of rain fell between 3pm and 4pm, according to data from the Whitworth Observatory in Manchester. The sudden deluge caused some roads to close and delays for many on routes around the county.
