West Lothian weightlifter named in Team Scotland squad for 2022 Commonwealth Games
dailyrecord.co.ukWest Lothian weightlifter Alice Aitchison has been selected to represent Team Scotland at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.It’s a first Commonwealth Games nod for the Broxburn-trained athlete, who will be competing in the 71kg category.A fine performance at the recent British Championships, where she gained a bronze medal, helped cement Alice’s place in the squad for the event.She spoke of her sense of pride at receiving the call, commenting: “I can’t wait to get to the Games and making the team definitely makes up for the sacrifices I have made to be where I am.“It’s hard to put into words the sense of pride I feel getting to represent Scotland on the platform in Birmingham this year.”The weightlifting events will take place at the NEC Arena in Birmingham between June 30 and July 3.
