West Lothian Council given funding boost as part of 'Spaces for People' pot

And more needs to be done, says the environmental pressure group. The Scottish Government created the £30m ‘Spaces for People’ pot for councils and other public bodies to fund temporary road space reallocation measures.

These have so far included pop-up cycle lanes, pavement widening and roads closed to through traffic to allow safe physical distancing.

West Lothian has been awarded £641,500, around £3.50 per head of the county’s population to spend on improvement measures such as pop-up cycle lanes.

Neighbouring Falkirk  has the lowest spend in the country - just £1 per head of the population - and a total funding package of  £190,000.
