The sex scenes in Normal People have been causing debate ever since it aired on RTÉ a few weeks back. Many fans have celebrated the show for its ‘realistic’ and ‘consensual’ depictions of sex while others have described it as ‘something you would expect to see in a porno movie’.

It’s worth noting that they are mostly elderly Liveline callers but they contribute something to the lively debate nonetheless.

Regardless of where you stand in the argument, one thing is for sure – BBC viewers were left red-faced after watching last night’s episode which many have said is the raunchiest yet.
