Andreas Wiseman International EditorIn response to rising coronavirus cases in the UK, the Government has mandated that face coverings will be required in all cinemas, museums, galleries and places of worship from August 8.The news came today as part of a raft of safeguards introduced by the Government to quell a national and European surge in infections.Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that further easing of restrictions, which had been due to come in tomorrow in England, are now postponed until 15 August at the earliest.
This included the re-opening of theatres, casinos, bowling alleys and concert halls.The new measures will be enforced by a “greater police presence,” Johnson added.In reality, few major theatres had been planning to open.
