Bonfire Night celebrations in Scotland are likely to be different this evening due to the coronavirus pandemic. A number of big organised events have been cancelled as social distancing measures remain in place across the country.This year’s celebrations are likely to be a bit more DIY, with Scots expected to launch fireworks from their own gardens this evening.
Despite the changes to the annual celebrations this year, the history of the day is something that will never be altered. November 5th is also known as Guy Fawkes Day, which is named after the then-supposed mastermind behind the failed Gunpowder Plot to assassinate King James I in 1605.
