Tributes paid as 'true gentleman' ex-cop dies from Covid-19

coronavirus. Stuart Ballantyne lost his fight for life on Monday after spending more than three decades helping other people as a police officer in the Forth Valley area.

The retired sergeant was one of the founding members of the Balfron-based Trossachs Search and Rescue Team and had been working with them for the last 23 years.

Announcing his tragic passing, the rescue unit said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Stuart Ballantyne, Secretary, friend and much loved team member.“Stuart sadly passed away from COVID-19 early yesterday evening.“Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughts over this very difficult time.”Chief Superintendent Alan Gibson, Divisional Commander for Forth Valley, added: “Greatly saddened.
