Train passengers have been warned to only travel if absolutely necessary early next week as temperatures could top 40C in England.
The Met Office has issued a red heat warning across parts of England for Monday and Tuesday - meanwhile a national emergency has been declared by the UK Health Security Agency, covering Monday until midnight on Wednesday (July 20).

The impact on train services will vary by region, but journeys will take significantly longer and there is a high likelihood of cancellations, delays and last-minute alterations.
