Thumbs-up for Ayrshire childminder after spot check from Care Inspectorate

An Ayrshire childminder is celebrating another positive report from the Care Inspectorate.Debbie’s Childminding, based in Prestwick, was graded as ‘very good’ across three quality indicators and ‘good’ in one other.An unannounced inspection of Debbie O’Pray’s service took place last month.According to the Care Inspectorate, they said children benefitted from “warm, caring, and nurturing interactions” from the childminder who “knew them well.”It also noted that children benefited from “regular outdoor play,” and they enjoyed a “wide variety” of experiences which met their developmental “needs, interests, and curiosities.”The scrutiny body also said the setting was “homely and welcoming” which helped children to “feel safe and secure.”Leadership was rated as ‘good,’ while the setting, team and quality of care, play and learning all rated ‘very good.’The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now.Get all the local news in your area – plus features, football news and the latest on the coronavirus crisis – at your fingertips 24/7.The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories while you can customise your page with the sections that matter to you.The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now on iOS and Android.An extract from the Care Inspectorate report said: “Children had fun taking part in a wide variety of play experiences that reflected their interests and stage of development.“On the day of our visit children enjoyed a visit to a local toddler group and enjoyed playing with dolls and a shop.“The childminder interacted sensitively during play, extending children’s thinking and learning.
