Three weekends of road closures before 100m long bridge is hoisted into place

Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.Major diversions lie ahead as preparations are completed for the arrival of the showpiece pedestrian and cycle bridge over the Black Cart.The 100-metre long bridge will run just upstream of the main A8 Greenock Road for traffic.It’s designed to keep people safe heading to the new Glasgow Airport Investment Area.The crossing will be craned into place on Sunday, November 22.But, starting on Friday, October 16, the area will be sealed off for three weekends.That will allow Renfrewshire Council teams the chance to spruce up the immediate area and put new lighting on the Inchinnan Swing Bridge.The Inchinnan Swing Bridge, Inchinnan Road and Abbotsinch Road.
